INTERNET

First of all, I must say I’m probably not the best person when it comes to the moving of sites on the internet which is why I asked my dear Husband to do that part for me. I let him know I’d announced on my blog that I was moving my wordpress blog to my actual website and he informed me that I should have let everyone know what to do beforehand. I told him that I thought I did by posting that I was moving … apparently, that wasn’t the case. After being teased for years that I go into too much detail, he informed me that I should have been more detailed! *sighs* So here goes….

Apparently (after receiving more instructions!), if you follow my blog through WordPress (by using the little “follow” button at the top so it shows in the reader) and not through the email subscription section you will not receive updates when I make a new post. Gee I really hope I got that right and explained that enough. If not, perhaps someone who has already done this before could let me know in the comments field.

Basically, all you have to do to keep following me is Subscribe via Email – that way, your subscription will come over with me when I move.

I really hope that makes sense and I’ve tried not to be too detailed but also tried not to confuse people too. *laughs*

I told my Husband, “I just paint, not move blogs around!”

Hopefully this works and if you haven’t already subscribed, then please do that via the email box at the top right of the sidebar and I hope to see you all very soon!

ps. Of course, if I still haven’t been detailed enough, I shall be posting on here again. *winks*

Chocolate Brownie Birthday Cake that my children made!

Posted in Cooking, Kids with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on March 24, 2013 by lollipop-designs

Well, it’s my Husband’s Birthday and I suggested to my 6 and 3 year olds that they could make a Birthday Cake for their Dad.  My kids loooove cooking and decorating so of course, they absolutely jumped at the chance.

Now, my Husband doesn’t eat any other chocolate normally, but oh dear, does he love his brownies.  He says his nose can track them a mile away.

So the kids and I devised a plan to make a chocolate brownie cake (just made out of pre-packaged brownie mixes with some added walnuts of course!) in a large rectangular baking tray.

We then cut it in half so we then had two smaller sized rectangles.

We’ve then taken 250 grams of milk chocolate, melted it and mixed it with 1/3 cup of thickened cream to make a nice simple chocolate ganache.  The kids then poured the ganache over the top of each cake and spread it around, then decorated with some Hundreds and Thousands Sprinkles for a bit of colour!

I’ve then taken the leftover cream and added some icing sugar and vanilla essence and whipped it until it was very very thick.  Then I’ve spread all of the whipped cream on top of one cake until it was completely covered and overflowing and sticking out the sides (of course, I had to put this cake into a ceramic baking dish as you could imagine or there’d be whipped cream EVERYWHERE!!)

Then we’ve put the top cake onto the whipped cream and voila!  The kids were so proud of their creation and I was so proud of them.  🙂

Mmmmmmmmmmmmm looks yummy.  Hope it tastes just as good.  I know one thing’s for sure, it’s gonna be a messy one to eat.

Chipmunk riding Harley Davidson custom painting

One of the pieces I’m currently working on a custom request for a character with dark sunglasses on, riding a Harley Davidson.  I’ve opted to put the motorbike on a highway doing a ride-by with some brown/green grass at the edges of the road.  The chipmunk will be the character as I think it’s rather cute with it’s oversized teeth.  I put a leather vest on it so it should blend right in with other motorbike enthusiasts I hope.

Part 1 – Sketch of chipmunk (hope it looks like one because we don’t have chipmunks here in Australia, so I had to google what one looked like haha!) riding a Harley Davidson.

The client has asked for the theme to be black and orange so this will be quite striking with the colour contrasts.  I’m looking forward to painting this and excited to see how it turns out!

And now this one is finished – If you would like to see each stage as it is painted, I post them on my fb page at:  https://www.facebook.com/LollipopDesignsAU  If you like my art, please swing by and “Like” me on Facebook too.  🙂

The painting finished is below.

littlepoppits says NO to bullying

littlepoppits says NO to bullying.

Bullying is such a common action amongst children and even adults today.  Thankfully, it has been brought out into the open more in the last 10 years or so, especially here in Australia.  I’m not familiar with how openly spoken about it is in other countries.

My son’s school has a zero tolerance towards any kind of bullying.  They participate in the Alannah and Madeline Foundation (keeping children safe from violence) Bullying and Cyber Safety program.

It’s fantastic as they have a “Buddy System”.  My son started Prep last year and each Prep student is allocated a “Buddy” who is in Grade 6 (the big kids of the school).  The bigger kids really look after them and it helps the little ones not be afraid of bigger kids and helps them a lot with their confidence to speak up if someone treats them nastily etc.

I must admit, bullying was one of the things I worried about as a parent, when your child is about to begin school.  I’m just glad the school my Husband and I chose for him, has this program in place and it works very well from what we’ve seen so far.

If you would like to find out more about this program just see this link:

http://www.amf.org.au/NCAB/

Even if you aren’t in Australia, the website could provide you with some ideas that might be able to be implemented into your child’s school.

I definitely say NO to bullying.

Children’s Castle painting for Children’s Hospital

Posted in Hand painted Children's Art - My Painting, Kids with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on February 6, 2013 by lollipop-designs

I just went for my annual checkup on my cardiomyopathy peri-partum last week at Monash Heart here in Melbourne.  Whilst there, I commented to my Cardiologist that I’ve begun doing art work for children and after taking a look at some quick pics on my phone (as you do, of course!) she said she would like to commission me to do a painting for the children’s section of Monash Heart.

Of course I felt so excited about this, but, after getting home I thought about it some more.   After I had spoken to my Cardiologist, I was of the impression that they purchase the artwork to decorate the hospital Monash Heart section with donations given to Monash Heart itself.

But, I decided that I would much prefer to donate a painting instead as my way of giving back to them for the wonderful care they have provided over the past 3 years.

I’m working on this particular painting of a castle with big sunflowers and of course “hearts” in a fairytale setting.  Here is what I have so far…. just have to add some hearts and some touch-ups here and there.  I will post another pic when it is finished. xoImage
